The Working Mother Burden

The pandemic could see a generation of women forced into a household juggling act, with childcare and schooling disrupted and much of the extra burden falling, once again, on mothers, economists warn.

Surveys suggest women have reduced their working hours far more sharply than men over the same period.

Advocates are pressing employers for flexible schedules and expanded leave, warning that without them years of hard-won gains could be reversed.
